Winter Springs, Fla. (March 11, 2008) – The Saint Leo University women’s golf team finished in 12th-place at the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational in Winter Springs, Fla. with a 54-hole total of 1,019 (346-334-339).  The event was hosted by Rollins College, and played at the par-72, 6,089-yard Tuscawilla Country Club.


Host Rollins College won the event, as the second ranked Tars shot 901 (305-295-301).  Rollins won by five strokes over No. 3 Nova Southeastern University (298-310-298=906).  Top-ranked Florida Southern College finished third overall with a three round total of 908 (311-293-304).  No. 8 Lynn University (309-310-308=927) was fourth with No. 5 Barry University (312-308-314=934) rounding out an All-SSC top-five.

Rollins’ Laura Fourdraine was also the individual medalist, finishing the home event with a 6-over-par 222 (75-73-74).  Fourdraine won by two strokes over teammate Joanna Coe and NSU’s Sandra Changkija who tied for second.

Sophomore Anna Riss (Frankfurt, Germany) led Saint Leo Lions in a tie for 39th-place individually after shooting 243 (80-79-84).  Freshman Alexandra King (Warwick, R.I.) was in 44th-place with a 246 (84-82-80).

Saint Leo quickly returns to action this Thursday at the Snowbird Intercollegiate hosted by Northern Illinois University.  The event will be played at Pebble Creek Golf Club Thursday and Friday.
