Vass, N.C. (March 4, 2008) – The Saint Leo University women’s golf team tied for second-place at the 2008 St. Andrews Spring Invitational, which concluded Tuesday afternoon in Vass, N.C.  The event was hosted by St. Andrews Presbyterian College at the par-72, 5,943-yard Woodlake Resort and Golf Club.


Saint Leo finished with a two-day total of 672 (334-338), and tied with Newberry College for the runner-up honors.  Pfeiffer University won the event with a team score of 639 (327-312).

Saint Leo was led by sophomore Anna Riss (Frankfurt, Germany) who tied for second individually with a 36-hole score of 154 (74-80).  Pfeiffer University’s Brittany Beltran took home individual medalist honors with a 149 (73-76).

Saint Leo will return to action March 10—11 at the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational hosted by Rollins College.  The event will be played at Tuscawilla Country Club.
