St. Augustine, Fla. (October 2, 2007) - The Saint Leo women's golf team finished tied for 15th at the Flagler College Fall Slam on Tuesday.  The final round of the event was cancelled due to unplayable conditions following heavy rains in the St. Augustine area.

Nova Southeastern University won the rain-shortened 18-hole, 20-team tournament with a 319 at the Slammer and Squire Course at the World Golf Village (par 72 - 5,815 yards). Daytona Beach Community College and Lynn University tied for second, just two shots back.

Lynn University’s Maha Haddioui was the lone golfer in the 102-player field to break par, carding a one-under, 71 to earn medalist honors. Daniela Vargas of Shorter College and Meghan Hughes of DBCC finished in a tie for second, three shots back at 74. Vargas tied with Bhavna Shetty of West Florida for the lowest score on the front nine – a 35.

Saint Leo was led by freshman Alexandra King (Warwick, R.I.) who was tied for 40th individually after an 85 on Monday.

The Lions will return to play when they host the 2007 Saint Leo Fall Invitational at Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club on Monday, October 22 and Tuesday, October 23.
