Pace, Fla. (September 26, 2006) – The Saint Leo University women’s golf team finished ninth on Tuesday at the Bubba Watson Invitational hosted by the University of West Florida.  The Lions shot a team total of 699 (346-353), as they opened their 2006-07 season at Stonebrook  Golf Club in Pace, Fla.

Saint Leo was led by Angela Sparagowski’s (So., Sylvania, Ohio) tie for 36th place individually, as she shot a pair of 83’s for a two-day total of 166.  Teammate Meghan Costello (So., Emerson, N.J.) was tied in 40th position with a 169 (79-90).

No. 3 ranked Florida Southern College was the wire-to-wire winner of the event, as the Mocs totaled 595 (306-289) as a team.  FSC also produced the individual medalist in Kim Ulander who shot a tournament-low 4-under-par 68 in the final round to win by two strokes over West Florida’s Sarah Nicholson (73-73=146).

Saint Leo will return to action this weekend when it will head to Ft. Myers, Fla. for the Florida Gulf Coast University Invitational.  The event will be take place from Saturday, September 30 to Sunday, October 1 at Miromar Lakes Golf Club.
