Saint Leo women's basketball adds final addition to roster

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo women's basketball team and head coach Anthony Crocitto have added the final piece to the 2017-18 roster in 5-foot-9 guard Tyler Davenport.

"We are very fortunate to add a Tyler Davenport at this stage in the game," Crocitto said of his final signee. "She is a multi-dimensional, athletic, multi-positional player who can score many ways. We will count on her to defend as she is a longer guard who understands the game. She comes from a solid AAU and High School structure and will round out our class of 2021."

Davenport, a 1,000-point career scorer, joins the Lions from Atkins High out of Winston-Salem, N.C.

In her senior season, Davenport averaged 20 points, eight assists and four rebounds per game. Her athletic successes earned her First Team All-Conference honors in both her junior and senior seasons, and she was the runner-up Winston-Salem Journal Conference Player of the Year in both of those seasons as well. She was named runner-up for All-Northwest Player of the Year following her senior season.

Off the court, Davenport has been actively serving the local chapter of the Special Olympics and has accumulated a 4.01 GPA in the classroom.

Davenport is added to six other rookies joining the Lions in 2017-18. Delaney Bernard, a 5-foot-8 shooting guard, Brandi Bain, a 5-foot-9 wing, and Montia Moon, a 5-foot-5 guard, signed with the Lions during the fall signing period. In the spring period, the Lions added Alani Gallagher, a 6-foot-1 center, Savannah Scott, a 6-foot-1 power forward, and Dashaun Jackson, a 6-foot-1 wing.
