Springs named D2CCA Second Team South All-Region

JACKSON, Tenn. - The Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) 2017 Women's Basketball South All-Region teams have been announced and Saint Leo women's basketball senior Chelsy Springs was named Second Team South All-Region.

Spring finished 2016-17 as the Sunshine State Conference scoring leader as the forward averaged 16.2 points per game. She also was fourth in rebounding with 8.3 boards per game, and fifth in field goal percentage as she finished with a 45.5-percent mark.

On the season she tallied 10 double-doubles, while also scoring double digits in 22 of the Lions' 27 games. Springs added 10 20-plus point performances and dropped a career-high 30 points against Rollins in the final regular season game.

Springs was a 2016-17 First Team All-SSC Selection, an honor she added to her Newcomer of the Year, Second Team All-SSC, and All-Newcomer Team honors from 2015-16.

Over her two-year span at Saint Leo, Springs has scored 883 points on 48.3-percent shooting. She has added 430 rebounds, 69 assists, 61 steals, and 40 blocks.

Springs was joined by fellow SSC players in Victoria Vine and Kacie Juday of Eckerd, and Elena De Alfredo of Tampa. Vine was the Lone SSC player named to the First Team and was also the South Region Player of the Year.
