Royster named SSC women's basketball Defensive Player of the Week
SAINT LEO, Fla. – Sophomore Asia Royster has been a key component in the Saint Leo women's basketball team's three-game winning streak, and her performance was recognized by the Sunshine State Conference as she earned her second Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season.

Royster, who scored back-to-back career highs of 14 points against Florida Southern and Barry last week, continued to feel the rhythm as she dropped a new career-high of 28 points against Lynn. She did so on 54.2-percent shooting from the floor, hitting 13 shots. She also added nine rebounds, four steals, two blocks and an assist. Royster did all this while also having to guard Lynn's best player, Paula Vasquez, who went just six of 16 from the floor.

In the second game of the week, Asia Royster recorded her fourth-straight double-digit performance, scoring 12 points. She added seven rebounds and five steals against Florida Tech.

On the week, Royster averaged 20.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 4.5 steals, and a block a game. Of her 16 total rebounds, 11 were defensive.

This marks Royster's second Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season and her career. She joins Chelsy Springs, who has won two Offensive Player of the Week honors, as the only Lions to snag weekly honors this season.

Saint Leo hits the road for a 5:30 match-up at Palm Beach Atlantic on Wednesday, Feb. 15.
