Lions Aid Less Fortunate by Performing Local Community Service

SAINT LEO, Fla. – In keeping with the Benedictine values of Saint Leo University, the Saint Leo women's basketball team recently went out into the community to perform community service at a local shelter.

The shelter, Sunrise of Pasco County, aids domestic abuse victims by providing them emergency shelter, counseling, referral services, legal services, and supervised visitation. The organization also provides community education to the Pasco County School system, as well as professional training for members of law enforcement, social services, and medical personnel.

The Saint Leo women's basketball team was able to benefit the organization by organizing the supply shed as well as painting and gardening. Interacting with members of the organization was a humbling experience for the group.
