Saint Leo, Fla. (February 6, 2008) - The Saint Leo University women’s basketball team is joining the fight against breast cancer and participating in the WBCA’s “Think Pink” initiative. The Lions will be wearing pink shoelaces and pink bows in their hair during the home game versus Lynn University on Saturday, February 9 (2:00 p.m.).
Fans are also encouraged to participate in “Think Pink” by wearing pink to the game versus the Fighting Knights. All ticket proceeds from fans wearing pink to the SSC hoops doubleheader will go toward Breast Cancer research with donations greatly accepted.
The WBCA's "Think Pink" initiative is a global, unified effort for the WBCA's nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond. The week set aside for this year's initiative is February 8 - 17, however many schools are participating outside of that window due to scheduling conflicts.
Founded in 1981, the WBCA promotes women's basketball by unifying coaches at all levels to develop a reputable identity for the sport and to foster and promote the development of the game as a sport for women and girls. For additional information about the WBCA, please visit wbca.org.
