Boca Raton, Fla. (January 12, 2008) – The Saint Leo University women’s basketball team (7-7, 0-3 SSC) fell 72-62 on the road to Lynn University (13-2, 4-0 SSC) on Saturday evening at Lynn’s de Hoernle Center.
Amanda Holloway (Sr., West Palm Beach, Fla.) scored a game-high 23 points, including 21 points in the second half, but the Lions couldn’t rally from a 25-point half-time deficit and fell for the fifth straight game. Four Lynn players scored in double figures to lead the Knights to a fifth straight win.
Saint Leo fell behind early and failed to regroup in the first half. Lynn led 50-25 at the half before the Lions mounted a comeback in the second half. The 25-point half-time margin marked the largest lead of the game.
The Lions outscored the Knights 37-22 in the second half, led by Holloway’s offensive outburst. However, the closest Saint Leo could get was the 10-point deficit, which provided the final margin.
Lynn controlled the boards in the game, outrebounding Saint Leo 45-36, including a 17-10 advantage on the offensive glass. The Knights outscored the Lions 16-4 in second chance points.
Saint Leo returns home on Wednesday night to face Florida Southern College in another SSC match-up. Opening tip is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at the Bowman Center.
