West Palm Beach, Fla. (December 7, 2007) – The Saint Leo women’s basketball team (4-2) defeated the Palm Beach Atlantic University Sailfish (1-9) by a score of 60-46 on Friday night in a non-conference game in West Palm Beach, Fla.  The game was the first for the Lions since their trip to Colorado two weeks ago and ended a brief two-game losing streak.

Saint Leo was led by senior Amanda Holloway (West Palm Beach, Fla.) who scored in double figures for the sixth consecutive game with 15 points.  Melissa Guerero (Jr., Trinidad & Tobago) added 14 points and nine rebounds in the win.

After SLU seemed destined to go home a big winner in the early minutes, starting the game with a 6-0 run and building their eventual lead to double-digits, PBA stormed back but the Lions led 30-27 at the break.

The Lions managed to hold on to the lead in the second half, running out to the largest lead of the game at 14 points, which proved to be the final margin.

The Saint Leo women’s basketball team will return to the hardwood on Saturday, December 15 against south region foe West Florida.  Opening tip for the game at the Marion Bowman Activities Center will be at 2:00 p.m.
