Jacksonville, Fla. (November 2, 2007)  –  The Saint Leo University women’s basketball team couldn’t overcome 31 turnovers Friday night and fell to Division I Jacksonville University 75-57 in an exhibition game at Swisher Gymnasium.

 It was the only exhibition game for the Lions. They open the regular season Friday, November 16 at home against the University of Puerto Rico-Piedras in the Sleep Inn Classic at 7:30 p.m.
     Sophomore forward Dominique Daniels (Columbus, OH) led the way for the Lions with a double-double. The six-footer had 15 points on six-of-eight from the floor and three-of-six from the charity stripe. She had a game high 11 rebounds, added two steals and a block in 37 minutes of action.
     Junior forward Nichole Tyler (Van Etten, NY) chipped in with 12 points for Saint Leo on four-of-six from both the floor and the free throw line. She added seven rebounds. Sophomore guard Monique Reynard scored nine points on one-of-two from the floor and seven-of-10 from the line.
     Saint Leo shot a game-high .447 from the floor and finished 23-of-32 from the free throw line for a percentage of 71.9. The Dolphins shot .362 from the floor and recorded a game-high 15 steals.
     Jacksonville raced to a 23-8 lead, but the Lions cut the margin to 31-27 on a layup by Tyler. The Dolphins finished the half on a 5-0 run to take a 37-27 advantage at the break.
     In the second half, JU pushed the advantage to a game-high 24 points at 59-35, but once again Saint Leo battled back and cut the margin to 63-51 on a pair of charity tosses by Reynard. However, the Dolphins answered with an 11-4 run to seal the game.
