Saint Leo, Fla. (January 13, 2007) - The Saint Leo women's basketball team (3-11, 1-3 SSC) came up short in a 52-45 loss to visiting Florida Tech (12-3, 4-1 SSC) on Saturday at the Marion Bowman Activities Center.

SLU junior guard Roni Carithers (Tampa, Fla.), junior forward Amanda Holloway (West Palm Beach, Fla.), and senior guard Ariel Walker (Lake City, Fla.) led the Lions with 10 points each. The Panthers were led by Kristin Heminger and Lindsay Greene with 9 points each.

Saint Leo jumped out to a nine-point lead by scoring the first nine points of the contest. However, the Panthers came back with a eight point run of their own to make it 9-8, before eventually tying the score at 14 with 9:53 left in the first half. The game was gridlocked after the first half at 22.

Florida Tech opened the second half with a 12-5 run to take their lead out to seven which proved to be the final deficit.

Saint Leo returns to action on Wednesday, January 17 when it travels to Winter Park, Fla. to face Rollins College in SSC play. Opening tip is slated for 5:30 p.m. and the game will be broadcast live on the Internet. Visit for "Listen Live" links
