Valdosta, Ga. (August 31, 2006) – The Saint Leo University volleyball (2-1) team rallied from a two games to one deficit Thursday night to defeat Valdosta State University in five games at the Valdosta State Azalea Classic. The game scores were 30-26, 26-30, 19-30, 30-28 and 15-11.
Outside hitters Audrey Starkebaum (So., Sterling, Colo.), Erin Oberlin (Sr., Naples, Fla.) and Chelsea Armer (Fr., San Jose, Calif.) had an outstanding match. Starkebaum had 15 kills and a match-high .467 attack percentage. Oberlin had 14 kills, nine digs and a .345 attack percentage, while Armer had a match high 22 kills and a match high 20 digs.
Setters Jessi Lynn (So., Brandon, Fla.) and Michelle Nogueras (Fr., Cayey, Puerto Rico) had 32 and 29 assists respectively. Lynn also added eight digs.
Defensive specialist Amanda Cook (So., West Palm Beach, Fla.) and Libero Eni Lukacs (Jr., Budapest, Hungary) chipped in with 17 and 12 digs respectively.
Saint Leo finished with a .219 attack percentage.
The Lions will be back in action tomorrow at the Azalea Classic, as they will face south region foes Presbyterian College and Augusta State University.
