St. Petersburg, Fla. (October 25, 2006) – The Saint Leo University volleyball team (19-8, 6-6 SSC) was swept by the Eckerd College Tritons (19-10, 6-6 SSC) at Eckerd’s McArthur Center in St. Petersburg on Wednesday night.  Eckerd evened the season series between the two teams, as the Tritons won by game scores of 30-24, 30-27 and 30-23.

Saint Leo was led by sophomore outside hitter Audrey Starkebaum (Sterling, Colo.) who registered a team-high 15 kills.

The Eckerd tandem of Keisha Carter and Angela White proved too much to handle as they totaled 13 and 12 kills, respectively.  Carter hit an amazing .722 hitting percentage, while White was also red hot, hitting .706.  The Tritons hit .373 as a team, compared to a .214 hitting percentage by the Lions.

Saint Leo returns home on Saturday to face SSC foe Nova Southeastern University in the final home match of the 2006 season.  The match will begin at 4:00 p.m. with the Lions three seniors being honored in a pre-game ceremony during Senior Day.
