Saint Leo, Fla. (October 21, 2006) – The Saint Leo University volleyball team (19-7, 6-5 SSC) defeated Barry University (12-8, 6-5 SSC) in five games on Saturday evening at the Bowman Center.  The Lions won by the scores of 33-31, 22-30, 27-30, 30-20 and 16-14.

Saint Leo was led by freshman setter Michelle Nogueras (Cayey, P.R.) who recorded her first career triple double with 10 kills, 48 assists and 16 digs.  She also had a .364 hitting percentage.   Barry was led by junior Samara de Freitas who totaled a match-high 25 kills.

The Lions won game one, then stumbled dropping games two and three.  They bounced back to win game four handily, before clinching the match by winning game five on a Michelle Nogueras service ace.  Saint Leo hit .217 as a team in the match, while Barry hit .199. 

Saint Leo next travels to St. Petersburg on Wednesday for a conference match-up against Eckerd College (7:00 p.m.).
