Saint Leo, Fla. (October 10, 2006) – The Saint Leo University volleyball team (16-6, 5-4 SSC) fell 3-1 to the visiting No. 8 ranked Florida Southern College (20-3, 8-0) in an SSC match played at the Bowman Center on Tuesday night. 

Florida Southern’s four-game victory ended Saint Leo’s three-match winning streak, as the Moccasins won by the scores of 30-16, 30-27, 32-34, and 30-19.

Moccasin outside hitter Ashley Martin led all players with 20 kills as Florida Southern continued their dominance within the Sunshine State Conference.  Saint Leo was led by sophomore Audrey Starkebaum (Sterling, Colo.) who recorded a double-double with 17 kills and 15 digs.

Saint Leo was able to come away with the third game with some impressive play.  However, Florida Southern proved to be too strong on this night as they capped off their 20th victory of the season with an impressive fourth game to clinch the match.

Saint Leo will next host Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at the Bowman Center.
