#14 Softball holds steady at #1 in South Region

NCAA DII Regional Rankings

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The 14th-ranked Saint Leo softball team held the No. 1 spot in the South Region poll, announced Wednesday by the NCAA Division II Softball Committee.

The Lions (35-12, 15-6 SSC) own a 29-9 record for their in-region record and were joined by Tampa, No. 10, as the two Sunshine State Conference representatives. Palm Beach Atlantic, an SSC Provisional member, moved up to No. 7 in the latest rankings after a 2-1 series win over the Lions. PBA holds a 29-14 record in-region where the Spartans are 22-10 in-region.

Saint Leo moved down to No. 14 in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association Coaches' Poll, announced Wednesday morning. The Lions were previous ranked ninth in the nation before falling 2-1 to Palm Beach Atlantic and slid to 14th in the country. Saint Leo is the lone SSC team in the top 25 as Tampa fell out of the rankings.

The Lions will host Rollins Thursday, April 27 and Friday, April 28 for a three-game SSC series to end the regular season. The two teams will kick off the series with one game Thursday at 7 p.m. before a doubleheader scheduled to start at 6 p.m. Friday.
