SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo softball senior, Stephanie Adkins was named the Sunshine State Conference Pitcher of the Week after her 2-0 week in the circle against Barry, for the week ending April 2.

Adkins (17-3) picked up two wins in the circle for the Lions (31-7, 12-3 SSC) in which the Green and Gold swept Barry in a three-game Sunshine State Conference series. Saint Leo eclipsed the 30 win mark for the third consecutive season.

Adkins threw a complete game Friday night to start the series off, allowing six hits and two runs while striking out one batter before turning around in the series finale and pitching the complete game shutout. In the final game of the weekend, Adkins struck out four batters and allowed five hits while holding the Buccaneers scoreless.

On the week, Adkins threw 14.0 innings struck out four batters and allowed five hits while holding the Buccaneers scoreless and to a .234 batting average.

This is the first honor of the season for Adkins and fourth of her career, where it is the third of the season for the Green and Gold, joining Kacie Kelly (March 27) and Samantha Ohmie (February 26). 

Saint Leo hits the road for a midweek SSC series in Melbourne with the Florida Tech Panthers Tuesday, April 4 and Wednesday, April 5. The first game of the series is set to get underway at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday.
