Ohmie Named SSC Softball Player of the Week

SAINT LEO, Fla. – No. 8 Saint Leo softball's senior Samantha Ohmie was named the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week after her weekend performance against Embry-Riddle and No. 4 North Georgia, for the week ending February 26. 

The Simi Valley, Calif. native hit a .538 batting clip with a 1.000-percent slugging percentage and a .571 on-base percentage for the week. Ohmie finished 7-of-13 from the plate with three runs scored and six RBI. Ohmie tagged 13 bases on the week where she collected eight on two home runs in the Lions' walk-off win over Embry-Riddle, 3-2, Saturday.

In the Lions (15-4) 3-2 win over the Eagles, Ohmie hit a two-run homer to left field before hitting a solo walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to go on for the win.

In the field, Ohmie finished the weekend with 29 putouts and no errors for a 1.000-fielding percentage to help the Lions to a 3-1 weekend.

Ohmie leads the Sunshine State Conference in RBI with 17 overall and leads the league in home runs with three.

Ohmie's player of the week honor is the first of the season for her and the Lions as a team, while it is her second of her career. 

Saint Leo travels to Nova Southeastern to open up Sunshine State Conference play on Friday, March 3 at 6:00 p.m. before a doubleheader on Saturday, March 4 starting at 1:00 p.m.
