2014 Season Opener PBC-SSC Softball Challenge in Columbus, Ga.
COLUMBUS, Ga. – Saint Leo Lions' softball will for the second-straight year will be participating in the Peach Belt Conference and the Sunshine State Conference (PBC-SSC) Softball Challenge. The event, which began last season, will be hosted Feb. 1-2 at the South Commons Softball Complex in Columbus, Ga. The Sports Council of Columbus (Ga.) will serve as host.
The Venue hosted softball during the 1996 Summer Olympic Games.
This year's PBS-SSC Softball Challenge will feature three teams from each league, and will kick off the opening weekend of the NCAA Division II softball season. The PBC teams participating in the 2014 event will be Columbus State, Lander, and North Georgia. Representing the SSC will be Saint Leo, Lynn and Rollins.
Saint Leo, Columbus State, Lynn and North Georgia will be competing in the challenge for the second-straight season.
The PBS-SSC Challenge will begin on Friday, Jan. 31 with a welcome banquet. Games will be played on Saturday, Feb. 1 and Sunday, Feb. 2.
The South Commons Softball Complex is an eight-field complex that includes a five-field hub with a central "roundhouse" featuring indoor score booths, concessions and restrooms. In addition to hosting the 1996 Olympic softball competition, the facility has also hosted the Southeastern Conference Championships.
