WINTER PARK, Fla. - Saint Leo softball freshman Alana Tabel collected this week's Sunshine State Conference Pitcher of the Week honor, it was announced Monday afternoon from the conference office.
Saint Leo freshman Alana Tabel (Loxahatchee, Fla.) picked up three wins, two of which came in complete-game performances. Working a total of 15.2 innings, Tabel did not surrender a single earned run on 20 hits and one walk. She struck out 11. In a 2-1 complete-game win over Kutztown, she scattered 10 hits with no walks and five strikeouts. She collected both wins in an SSC doubleheader at Nova Southeastern. In an 8-0 shutout versus the Sharks, she allowed just four hits and one walk while fanning three. Taking the circle for the final 3.2 innings of a 9-6 win against NSU, Tabel secured the win by scattering six hits with no walks. She struck out three.
Thus far as a freshman, Tabel has tossed over 90 innings and collected 67 strikeouts. Owning a 10-5 record, her earned run average is 1.78.
