Softball Saturday at Zephyrhills Little League

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Last Saturday the Saint Leo softball team spent the majority of their morning and part of their afternoon assisting Zephyrhills Little Leaguers in learning the basics, as well as some of the finer details, about the game of softball.

Taking place at the Zephyrhills fields, the free clinic saw nearly 30 kids show up for the event.

"It was a great experience for the girls to give back to the community," said head softball coach John Conway. "They did a great job taking charge of the day, and showed immense enthusiasm throughout the morning with the little leaguers. It was a fun time for all."

The group went over hitting and throwing techniques, as well as base running instruction. Most importantly, however, the team spread the value of Community and showed what it takes to play a team sport.

Lions' senior pitcher Megan Still was quoted as saying, "Working with the young ladies was a great experience. We really got to be hands on with each of them and teach them the fundamentals of the game. It is an awesome feeling when you can pass your skills and knowledge on to a small child that is just starting out!"

The Lions have a series of community events throughout the fall semester.
