SAINT LEO, Fla. – After an incredible week at the plate, Lions’ senior outfielder Tiffinee Harvey was selected Sunshine State Conference Offensive Player of the Week, it was announced Monday by Commissioner Jay Jones.
Harvey led the Lions in nearly every offensive category, while helping her squad sweep the final regular season home contests of the 2010 campaign.
The Lakeland, Fla. native batted .750 for the week, while going 6-for-8 from the plate. She connected on three extra-base hits, including two doubles and a home run. In fact, her double in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Panthers tied her own school single-season record of 21 doubles. She scored three runs and drove in three others, en route to a team-best 1.375 slugging percentage. She also amassed an on-base percentage of .778 over the two day stretch.
In her best performance of the week, Harvey went 3-for-3 with a double, home run, and two runs scored. The wins helped push the Lions to their first conference sweep of the year.
She is the 28th Saint Leo student-athlete to be named a player of the week and also marks her second time being tagged with the distinct honor.
The Lions will return to action on Tuesday, April 27 in Winter Park, Fla. to take on the No.10-ranked Rollins College Tars. The three-game series will take place at the Rollins Softball stadium at Lake Island Park, on the corner of Comstock Ave. and Ward Ave. in Winter Park.
