SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo catcher Brittany Yates was named Sunshine State Conference Offensive Player of the Week, it was announced Monday by SSC Commissioner Jay Jones.

In helping lead the Lions to a 4-0 weekly mark, Yates concluded a successful week by posting a .500 batting average, in addition to a team-best 12 RBI and six runs scored. She smacked four home runs, including her second multiple home run game of her career in a 13-5 win over Dominican.

The sophomore amassed a 1.667slugging percentage and .500 on-base percentage, while collecting at least one hit and two RBI in each of her four contests. 

In the doubleheader sweep over Lewis University, the catcher combined to go 3-for-6 with two doubles, a home run and six RBI.

She followed that with her second consecutive six RBI performance in the two-game sweep of Dominican College. In the sweep of the Chargers, Yates blasted three home runs and was responsible for three runs scored.

The Riverview, Fla. native rounded out the week with a 1.000 fielding percentage.

Yates is the second softball player to be named Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week in 2010. She is the 17th Saint Leo student-athlete to earn the honor this season.
