SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo centerfielder Tiffinee Harvey was named Sunshine State Conference Offensive Player of the Week, It was announced Monday by SSC Commissioner Jay Jones.

Individually, Harvey had an outstanding beginning to the 2010 season, while helping lead her team to a 3-3 record.

In six games, Harvey batted .529 and slugged at a 1.118 clip. She also possessed a .619 batting average and did not register a single error in 10 chances. In total, she collected nine hits in 17 at-bats and drove in a team-high six runs. The senior posted six extra-base hits, including four doubles and her first two runs of the year. She tied for the team lead in walks with four and went 1-for-1 in the stolen base department.

By the end of the week, Harvey had registered a hit in each of the six games.

In the season opening series against Webber, Harvey went a combined 2-for-5 with two doubles and two runs scored. She stole one base and walked in a pair of at-bats as the Lions and Warriors split the season-opening series.

At the SSC/GSC Crossover Tournament in Pensacola, Fla., the centerfielder went 2-for-3 with one run scored and registered an RBI in the first of two games against North Alabama. She also blasted her first home run of the season. In game two, Harvey exploded for three hits in three at-bats, knocking in three runs and scoring twice. On top of her two doubles, the senior connected on her second home run in as many games. Her go-ahead home run in the sixth inning, propelled the Lions to the 6-4 win.

She rounded out the week with a pair of 1-for-3 efforts against West Florida and Palm Beach Atlantic. Against the Sailfish, Harvey delivered the game-winning hit in the bottom of the seventh inning against the Sailfish to push the Lions to a 3-2 win.

Harvey is the first spring sport student-athlete to earn a Player of the Week nod, and the first Lion to earn the honor since Danielle Bletso was named Player of the Week on November 25, 2009. She is the 12th Saint Leo student-athlete to earn the honor this season.
