SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo softball team and Head Coach Christi Wade, announced their 2009 fall exhibition schedule, Tuesday afternoon.

The Lions, who welcome seven newcomers to the squad, open their 2009 fall slate of games at the friendly confines of University Field on Friday, October 16 as they take on Pasco-Hernando Community College. The doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.

A yearly tradition continues for the Green & Gold, as the program honors its players from the past at the annual alumni game. The contest, which features this year’s current squad playing against past members of the softball team, is scheduled for Thursday, October 24 at 6:00 p.m. at University Field.

The Lions will wrap up their fall campaign at the University of South Florida Tournament on October 31st-November 1st. During the Tournament, SLU will take on tough competition from all around the state, including an 11 a.m. game against St. Petersburg College. In the following game, SLU will be re-matched with an opponent from earlier in the fall, Pasco-Hernando Community College, at 3:30 p.m.

The competition level increases with Sunday's slate of games. The first team on-tap for Saint Leo will be Manatee Community College at 1:30 p.m. before finishing up the fall against Division I foe the University of South Florida at 5:30 p.m.

The team returns nine players from last year’s squad as they attempt to improve upon their 30-25 record from a year ago. Stay tuned to Saintleolions.com for the release of the 2010 regular season schedule.
