Winter Park, Fla. (April 22, 2008) – The Saint Leo softball team (30-13, 9-7 SSC) had it's two-game winning streak snapped at the hands of the Rollins College Tars (33-12, 10-6 SSC) Tuesday evening at Lake Island Park by the score of 1-0.

Ashley Urbanik (Jr., Riverview, Fla.) threw a complete game for the Lions tossing six-innings surrendering only five hits and striking out five Tars. The Lions offense had a hard time getting started against the Tars’ starter Nichole Anderson mustering only four hits. Ally Maddox (Jr., Brandon, Fla.), April Slate (Sr., Land O’Lakes, Fla.), Elysha Agen (Fr., Palm Harbor, Fla.) and Heather Stroud (Sr., San Antonio, Fla.) all picked up singles for the Lions in the contest.

Saint Leo and Rollins each threatened in the first three innings of the game, as each team managed to get runners in scoring position. The score remained deadlocked at zero though until the fifth inning when Urbanik (22-8) walked the Tars lead-off hitter who advanced to second on a stolen base. After being sacrificed to third, the runner scored on a sacrifice fly to deep centerfield giving Rollins the 1-0 advantage. The Lions did not answer back, as Saint Leo managed only one hit the final two-innings of the game.

The Lions left three runners on base in the game, including two in scoring position.

Saint Leo looks to rebound against Rollins College in an SSC doubleheader Wednesday, April 23 at Lake Island Park in Winter Park, Fla. First game is set for 6:00 p.m. and can be heard on the Saint Leo Audiocast Network.
