Saint Leo, Fla. (April 9, 2008) – After falling out of last week’s poll, the Saint Leo softball team (27-10, 8-4 SSC) was ranked No. 16 in the newest poll released by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). The Lions received 82 total points. This marks the second time this season Saint Leo has graced the poll.

Barry University overtook Alabama-Huntsville for the No.1 spot in the country, collecting 199 total points. Barry joined Saint Leo as the only other Sunshine State Conference teams in the poll.

Saint Leo also ranks in fourth in the newest NCAA South Region Poll. Barry remained in the top spot, collecting a 25-2 in-region record. There are still two polls remaining, with the top eight earning the opportunity to play in the South Region tournament.
