Saint Leo, Fla. (March 12, 2007) – Saint Leo University softball player Kiki VonHolt (Jr., New Port Richey, Fla.) has been named Sunshine State Conference Pitcher of the Week, it was announced Monday.

VonHolt posted a 3-0 record last week in four starts with a 0.58 ERA.  In 24.1 innings, she allowed two earned runs on 14 hits and four walks while striking out 15.

In a win over 3-0 win over North Alabama, VonHolt hurled a complete-game shutout, allowing four hits and two walks with four strikeouts. In a 4-3 win over No. 2 Alabama-Huntsville, she appeared in 5.1 innings, allowing two earned runs on six hits and two walks. VonHolt did not earn a decision in the contest.

Earlier in the week, she posted back-to-back shutouts with a one-hit victory against Salem International and a three-hit win versus Palm Beach Atlantic.

Saint Leo student-athletes have now earned a total of 12 SSC Player of the Week awards in the 2006-07 school year.  VonHolt is the first softball player to earn the weekly conference honor this season.

The Lions softball team will host Molloy College tomorrow in a doubleheader beginning at 3:00 p.m. at University Field.
