Kent Reiber, assistant cross country coach at Saint Leo University for the past four seasons, begins his first season as head coach for the Lions’ men’s and women’s cross country and distance track programs in 2015-16. He began his new duties on May 27, 2015.

“Kent Reiber has been a large part of the rise and success of our cross country program. He was a key element in the men’s team qualifying for nationals the last two seasons and we feel he is ready to assume the leadership role of the two programs, along with distance track,” said Francis X. Reidy, Saint Leo director of athletics. “I am confident in a smooth transition that will result in continued success with Kent as the next head coach.”

Reiber had been the program’s interim head coach since mid-April 2015. He was instrumental in coaching Saint Leo men’s and women’s cross country to Sunshine State Conference Championships in 2014, the first conference titles in either program’s history.

Saint Leo men’s cross country runners claimed back-to-back SSC individual titles under Reiber’s tutelage in 2013 and 2014, while Valentin Lenz was named the 2013 United States Track and Field & Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) South Region Athlete of the Year. In women’s cross country, Reiber helped coach a pair of women’s SSC individual champions in Tereza Novotna (2011) and Colett Rampf (2014).

Novotna became Saint Leo’s first qualifier for the NCAA Division II Cross Country National Championship, after finishing second in a photo-finish at the 2011 NCAA South Region meet.

Since his arrival at Saint Leo in 2011, Reiber has coached three SSC individual champions, two SSC runners of the year, and three SSC freshmen of the year.

In Spring 2015, Reiber coached Rampf (women’s 3000m steeplechase) and Herns Agyemang-Duah (men’s 800m) to appearances at the 2015 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Reiber is a 2011 graduate of Marietta College with a Bachelor of Science degree in health science, and received his Master of Business Administration from Saint Leo in 2013. He holds USA Track and Field (USATF) Level II Certification and is a member of the USATF Coaches Registry.

Reiber came to Saint Leo after one year of coaching at Marietta, and helped coach the Pioneers' first-ever male runner to the Division III national championship, as well as multiple male and female Academic All-Region awards.

In addition, Reiber also spent time as the Avon Lake High School (Avon, Ohio) volunteer assistant in 2006.
