SAINT LEO, Fla. - Saint Leo University head coach Melissa Miller-Mangen has announced the mid-year addition of Rafael Lohner to the men's cross country team. Lohner will join the Lions during their spring season as he readies with the other member of the team for the 2013 Fall championship season.
"We are excited to have Rafael join the team this spring," Miller-Mangen said. "He will make an immediate impact in our top-five next fall and we will use this spring on the track to improve upon his 5K personal record of 15:55 and 3K, 9:00."
Lohner joins the Lions after spending some time at the Clausthal University of Technology in Germany where he was a fifth place finisher at the German University Championships in the 5,000 meter event. He will use his experience at the collegiate level to help elevate the entire Lions' squad, starting immediately.
The Achsheim, Germany native will begin training with Miller-Mangen and the members of the cross country as they prepare for 2013-14.
