Freshman Lenz Earns Runner of the Week Honors

WINTER PARK, Fla. – Saint Leo freshman Valentin Lenz has been named Sunshine State Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week presented by VALIC, it was announced Monday by SSC Commissioner Jay Jones.

Lenz, a native of Duesseldorf, Germany, turned in an 8K time of 28:27.70 in just his second race of the season at the UCF Black & Gold Invitational. Lenz finished 32nd in a field of 78 runners. His efforts helped the Lions place seventh of 11 teams, nine of which were Division I squads.

Saint Leo, assisted by Lenz, is regionally-ranked for the first time all season.  

Lenz is one of five Saint Leo student-athletes to be named SSC Player of the Week this fall, and third SSC Runner of the Week.

The Lions will resume action at the Sunshine State Conference Championships on Saturday, October 20.  The meet is set to take place from the UCF Sports Complex at 7:30 a.m.
