SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo men's and women's cross country teams concluded their spring training seasons competing at the UNF Invitational and the Walt Disney World Invitational in April. Continuing to new make new strides on the course, many Lions continue to exceed expectations as they get prepared for their fall championship season.
In the latest runs, sophomore Tereza Novotna concluded the spring outdoor meets with two event wins in the 5000m at Embry Riddle, as well as the 3K steeple chase victory at Disney. Later, Novotna ran a college-best at the UNF 3K steeple run, pacing herself at a time of 11:11.60. Jillian Browne also ran a career-best in the 5K at the UNF Best Western Invite with a time of 19:40.73.
Brian Haynes also pieced together an outstanding spring, running a personal-best time of 16:42.46 on the track. Eric Dirth, who enjoyed his most successful fall in 2011, continued his enhancement as he improved by over 30 seconds in the 3000m, and also ran a personal-best in the 3K steeple at 10:48.06.

All-around each student-athlete competed and made new advances this spring, giving new marks for each Lion to hit in 2012.
"Overall, everyone made great strides," said Head Coach Melissa Miller-Mangen. "Tereza, Jill, Bryan, and Eric guided the way and did an excellent job competing against a competitive field of runners. The upperclassmen also performed well this spring in the distance events. The group will guide us to a strong cross country season."
Miller-Mangen and the rest of the Lions will return to course for their championship season in September 2012.
