SAINT LEO, Fla. – For the third consecutive week, both the Saint Leo men's and women's cross country teams earned spots in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) South Region Poll, it was announced Tuesday.
Ranked for the fourth week in a row, the men continued their ninth-place ranking thanks to second-place showing at the flrunners.com meet, as well as a solid showing at the Disney Classic.
Overall, Alabama-Huntsville remains atop the region poll. In total, five Sunshine State Conference teams rank in the top-10.
The women, on the other hand, hold onto 10th-place for the second consecutive week. Saint Leo draws there ranking from a fourth-place showing last week's flrunners.com meet, in addition to the 13th-place finish at the Disney Classic.
Tampa, Nova Southeastern, Florida Southern, and Florida Tech round out the other four conference schools in the south region poll. Tampa and Nova Southeastern currently own the top two positions in the poll.
Both squads will return to course on Saturday, October 22, when they travel to Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. to compete in the SSC Championships. The race is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. and is hosted by Nova Southeastern University. Stay current with SaintLeoLions.com for news, updates, and information on the men's cross country team.
