Men’s Cross Country Sees 11th-Place Showing At USF Invite

TAMPA, Fla. – The Saint Leo men's cross country team totaled 279 points as they claimed 11th-place at the USF Invitational 8K, Friday afternoon from The Claw Golf Course on the University of South Florida campus.

Brian Haynes set the pace for the Green and Gold as he finished the race in 43rd and a time of 27:36.48.

The next three Lions to finish the race closed with similar times. David MalysEric Dirth, and Michael Berry crossed the tape between places 58th through 68th and all under 29 minutes. Malys set a personal 8K best with a time of 28:08.62. Meanwhile, Dirth and Berry saw times of 28.16.75 and 28.31.95. 

Connor Callahan also ran a solid race for the Lions as he cracked the top-80 with a time of 29:24.89.

Jeff Van Natter and Justin Prenganman bookended the Saint Leo effort with finishing times of 34:45.90 and 30:54.00.

After taking a week off, the Lions will hit the course again on Saturday, September 24, in Gainesville, Florida for the Mountain Dew Invitational. The early morning run is set for 8:30 a.m. For the latest news, information, and updates on the women's cross country team, visit SaintLeoLions.com.
