TAMPA, Fla. – Saint Leo junior Joshua Sickinger won the 3000m steeplechase to highlight Saint Leo men's track results on day two at the University of South Florida Bulls Invitational track meet, Saturday at the USF Track & Field Complex.
Sickinger posted a time of 9:30.36 in the steeplechase, just 13 seconds off the NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time.
Junior Anthony Deleva finished 10th in the 1500m run with a time of 4:11.06, leading a three-man contingent for the Lions in the event. Ilio Sanchez was 14th overall with a time of 4:16.72, while Chris Cabret was 15th in a time of 4:16.93.
The Lions also had three entrants in the men's 800m race, led by freshman Tyler Pantley with a time of 2:09.42 in 26th place. Freshman Seamus Chalmers (2:15.10) and senior Adam Urbaniak (2:17.51) were 30th and 31st respectively in the event.
Junior Matthew Gargiulo posted a 31st place finish in the 400m dash with a time of 56.10 seconds, while freshman Louis Ervensky was 43rd in the 100m dash after crossing the line in 20.65.
The next team meet for Saint Leo men's track will be back at USF on April 21 and 22, when the team competes at the USF Invitational.
