TAMPA, Fla. – Saint Leo men's and women's track each had multiple entries in the 5000m run in the first of two days of competition at the University of South Florida Bulls Invitational, Friday evening at the USF Track & Field Stadium.
In the women's 5000m run, sophomore Laura Tobin finished sixth overall with a time of 18:22.99 to lead a contingent of four Saint Leo runners.
Freshman Maria Fernandez was 14th overall with a time of 19:13.79, followed by freshman Fatima Abu-Rumman in 21st place after crossing the finish line in 19:59.59. Sophomore Heidi Churchill was 26th overall after posting a time of 21:19.57.
Freshman Chris Cabret was the top Saint Leo finisher in the men's 5000m run, recording a time of 15:20.15.
Freshman Tyler Pantley and junior Joe Fuller were 22nd and 23rd overall with times of 16:08.31 and 16:11.13 respectively, with junior Stephan Brown placing 26th in a time of 16:42.61.
Competition continues on Saturday, March 18, at the USF Bulls Invitational with running events starting at 11:00 a.m. on a rolling schedule.
