Bez, Matuszczak headline men’s track results at UT Classic

TAMPA, Fla. – Saint Leo runners Niclas Bez and Rafal Matuszczak each claimed a pair of first place finishes to pace Saint Leo men's track at Friday's University of Tampa Classic at Pepin Rood Stadium.

Bez won the men's 800m run with a time of 1:52.61.

Matuszczak posted a time of 14:44.50 while winning the men's 5000m run, improving upon his seed time by nearly 10 seconds. Anthony Deleva ran to a fifth place finish in the 5000m, crossing the finish line in 15:08.93. Josh Sickinger also finished among the top 10 in a crowded field for the 5000m, recording a time of 15:19.34.

Saint Leo finished the meet fourth out of 13 teams in the event with 25 points.

The Saint Leo men's and women's track teams return to action on Friday, March 17, and Saturday, March 18, when they compete in the University of South Florida Bulls Invitational.
