DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Saint Leo senior Rafal Matuszczak won the men's 3000m run to lead the Lions at Saturday's Embry-Riddle First Chance/Last Chance meet at the ERAU Track Complex.
Matuszczak crossed the line in 8:36.80, and was soon joined by fourth-place finisher Anthony Deleva with a time of 8:56.62. Deleva had his second top 10 time of the day later in the meet, posting a time of 2:34.70 to finish fourth in the men's 1000m run.
Junior Niclas Bez posted the winning time in the men's mile run, crossing the finish line in 4:22.61.
Both Bez and Matuszczak picked up another first place showing in the men's distance medley relay. Bez, Deleva, Matuszczak, and senior David Gardner recorded a time of 10:27.73 in the DMR, over 10 seconds ahead of the second-place squad from the University of Tampa.
Junior Joshua Sickinger nearly matched Bez and Matuszczak's first-place achievements with his effort in the 5000m run. Sickinger posted a time of 15:20.17 in the 5K race and finished second overall, just under 10 seconds behind event winner Ronny Greenup from Florida Gulf Coast University.
Saint Leo men's track returns to action on Friday, March 3, when the Lions travel to the University of Tampa for the UT Track Invitational.
