ITA Release

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo men's tennis team was honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association by earning 2017 All-Academic Team honors for their success in the classroom during the 2016-17 academic year.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is given to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above on a 4.00 scale. All varsity letter winners are factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year, including fall 2016 and spring 2017.

The Lions also saw six individuals earn ITA Scholar-Athlete honors.

To earn the Scholar-Athlete nod, a student-athlete must have been a varsity letter winner, maintained at least a 3.5 GPA, and have been enrolled for at least two semesters. Saint Leo senior Oskar Nurmio, juniors James Defusto and Jaime Bueno, sophomore Vincent Suillerot and Thomas Grinberg, and freshman Willem Van Den Akker all earn the honor.

The Lions join the six other Sunshine State Conference programs in earning this award.
