Saint Leo Earns Sixth Straight Win
HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The eighth-ranked Saint Leo men's tennis team closed its spring break trip going undefeated on the week, wrapping the three-match run with an 8-1 win over Millersville on Friday morning in Hilton Head, S.C. The win advances the Lions' record to 13-3, while Millersville drops to a mark of 2-5.
The Lions swept doubles action, beginning with the second-seeded tandem of Fons Verbene and Ismail Lemtouni picking up an 8-0 win over Niko Mucci and Christian Boyer. The top flight duo of Aloua Adjenak and Bruno Sisti took down Kevin Tran and Dylan Ryan 8-0, followed by Jacobo Gonzalez-Tarrio and Sam El Nehmani earning an 8-3 win over Tucker Mertz and Anthony Jadus at the No. 3 slot.
The Lions continued to roll through singles action, with Verberne earning a quick 6-0, 6-0 win over Mucci at the fifth seed. Gonzalez-Tarrio earned a 6-0, 6-1 victory in the fourth flight, defeating Ryan, followed by Sisti with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Mertz at the No. 2 slot.
50th-ranked Lemtouni made easy work of Tran at third seed singles, 6-0. 6-0, followed by El Nehmani with a 6-0, 6-0 victory of his own over Jadus at the No. 6 position.
Adjenak surrendered the Lions' lone point of the day, falling to Sambrik after a drawn out 6-7 (2-7), 7-5, 10-3 battle in the top flight.
The Saint Leo men's tennis team returns to action on Wednesday, March 26, when they travel to Daytona, Fla. to take on Embry-Riddle.
