Lions Sweep En Route to Fifth Straight Victory
HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The eighth-ranked Saint Leo men's tennis team made easy work of Bloomsburg University on Thursday morning, sweeping the Huskies en route to a 9-0 victory in Hilton Head, S.C. The win advances Saint Leo to a 12-3 record, and their fifth straight win, while Bloomsburg drops to a mark of 0-5 on its spring season.
In doubles play, the tandem of Ismail Lemtouni and Sam El Nehmani took down Kyle Christy and Adam Schultz, 8-3 at No. 3 doubles to open the morning. Aloua Adjenak and Bruno Sisti followed suit, defeating Michael DiSanto and Denis Ikejiri, 8-2 at No. 1 doubles, followed by Fons Verberne and Jacobo Gonzalez-Tarrio wrapping up doubles with an 8-3 victory over Will Humphrey and Brayden Shipman at the No. 2 position.
Singles action was just as quick as doubles, beginning with Gonzalez-Tarrio picking up a quick 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles over Shipman. El Nehmani secured the No. 6 slot, defeating Morkada Stitou, 6-1, 6-1, followed by Verberne at No. 5 singles with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Christy.
Nurmio made easy work of Ikejiri at No. 2 singles, earning a 6-1, 6-2 win, followed by 50th-ranked Lemtouni as he defeated Humphrey, 6-0, 6-4 at the No. 3 position. Adjenak secured the clean sweep against the Huskies with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles, defeating DiSanto to wrap up the morning.
The Saint Leo men's tennis team returns to action on Friday, March 21, when they take on Millersville University in Hilton Head, S.C. to wrap up their spring break trip.
