Soler Advances to ITA Regional Final; Faces Top Seed on Monday

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Saint Leo University men's tennis newcomer Joan Soler defeated West Florida's Kenny Brasil 6-3, 6-3 and will play for the ITA South Region Title on Monday.  Soler claimed victories in four consecutive matches to earn the trip to the championship. 

Soler will face No. 1 seed and top nationally ranked player Bruno Savi from host West Florida in tomorrow's final.  The winner of the Soler/Savi match will go on to represent the Div. II South Region at the NCAA Individual Finals in two weeks at the ITA Small College Nationals hosted in Ft. Myers.

Including Soler's impressive weekend, the Lions represented well at the ITA Regionals at West Florida with Ismail Lemtouni advancing into the Round of 16 before being sidelined by injury, and Jacobo Gonzalez-Tarrio reaching the quarterfinals in the Consolation Round as well.

Soler and Savi will get the Individual Regional Final underway at 11:00 a.m. EDT at the Ralph 'Skeeter' Carson Tennis Complex on the West Florida Campus in Pensacola.
