Lions Place 11 Tennis Student-Athletes on ITA All-Academic Team

SKILLMAN, N.J. - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced its 2013 ITA All-Academic Teams and Scholar-Athletes on Tuesday. Saint Leo boosted the Sunshine State Conference tally as the Lions saw 11 student-athletes on teams that included seven women's and five men's squads conference-wide. In total, 75 SSC student-athletes were recognized as ITA Scholar-Athletes.

From the women's side, joining Saint Leo were Barry, Florida Tech, Florida Southern, Lynn, Nova Southeastern and Rollins earning the ITA All-Academic Team award. The Lions, Barry, Florida Southern, Lynn, and Rollins were also recognized among the men's teams.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.20 or above on a 4.00 scale.
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a student-athlete must meet three criteria, including: be a varsity letter winner; have a GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.00 scale during the current academic year; have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.
