12th-ranked Men’s Tennis Ranked Fifth in First South Region Poll

SKILLMAN, NJ - The 12th-ranked Saint Leo men's tennis team sits in the fifth spot in the first 2013 International Tennis Association (ITA) South Region poll released on Thursday morning.

At the first reporting period, the Lions sit behind West Florida as they are the region's top team coming from the Gulf South Conference.  After UWF, four Sunshine State Conference schools look up at the Argonauts with Lynn, Barry and Rollins sitting second through fourth and just ahead of Saint Leo.

The bottom-half of the top 10 is led by Valdosta State and followed by Florida Southern, West Alabama, Delta State and Florida Tech.

Saint Leo currently sits third in the SSC after a 4-2 start to the season.  The two blemishes on the Lions' record come courtesy of losses suffered to the No. 1 (Armstrong) and No. 3 (Lynn) ranked teams in the nation.  Aside from those setbacks, the Lions have dominated the opening weeks of the season.

The Lions will next face Palm Beach Atlantic when they travel to West Palm Beach for a Saturday matchup with the Sailfish.  The match is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
