No. 12 Tennis Opens Season with Sweep of St. Thomas

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The 12th ranked Saint Leo men's tennis team started their season in much the same way it finished 2012 as the Lions posted a 9-0 victory over St. Thomas (Fla.) on Friday afternoon.

En route to the sweep of the Bobcats, the Lions (1-0) saw only the #3 double tandem of Antoine Raffaelli and Fons Verberne as well as #1 singles Aloua Adjenak finish with more than a five-point margin in both sets as head coach James Bryce's squad flexed its muscles on the first day of the season.

The men came out ready to play today and executed like they should," Bryce said.  "I was happy with the contributions from everyone top to bottom. I hope we can continue to improve every day."

The Lions have little time to rest as their opening weekend schedule sees them back on the Saint Leo Tennis Center courts for a Saturday match with Southeastern (Fla.).  The meeting between Saint Leo and the Fire is scheduled to get underway at 11:00 a.m.
