SAINT LEO, Fla. – Coming off impressive Sunshine State Conference and NCAA Tournament runs, the Saint Leo men's and women's tennis teams garnered their highest rankings in program history as they were selected 14th and 10th in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Poll, it was announced Wednesday.
The women, who finished with a program-record 18 wins, including the first-ever win over Rollins in the NCAA Tournament, moved up one spot from last month's poll as they now stand at 14th in the country.
Individually, Laura Kemkes, an All-Sunshine State Conference First Team member, concluded the year as the nation's 14th-ranked singles player, while Adrianna Daszkiewicz made her first-ever appearance on the south region chart as she sits 20th.
The doubles tandem of Emily Singleton and Kemkes, also an All-SSC First Team duo, finished the year ranked ninth in the country and second in the region.
Breaking into the top-10 for the first time ever, the men compiled 16 wins, including the programs first-ever victory over Rollins at the SSC Tournament. That win over the Tars helped propel the Lions up seven spots to 11th in the country, their highest ranking of all time.
Aloua Adjenak, Victor Lozier, and Matt Nicholson-Lewis continued to be a staple in the singles poll. Adjenak wrapped-up the year at 29th, while Nicholson-Lewis and Lozier concluded the season 32nd and 41st, respectively. Additionally, all three Lions made an appearance on All-SSC team.
Nicholson-Lewis and Lozier, an All-SSC First Team doubles pair, completed the year 11th in the country and sixth in the region.
