WINTER, PARK, Fla. - Saint Leo sophomore Victor Lozier has been recognized as the Sunshine State Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week, it was announced Monday by league officials.
Lozier tallied two singles victories and a pair of doubles decisions as the No. 18 Lions opened the season with a 2-1 mark. In a 9-0 sweep over Palm Beach Atlantic, Lozier took down Luke Bolanos 6-5, 6-1 at #2 singles and joined Matt Nicholson-Lewis for an 8-3 #1 doubles victory over Mark Lyons and Bolanos.
In an 8-1 win over Warner, he rallied for a 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 #1 singles decision over Julian Ramirez. He again teamed with Nicholson-Lewis in the top doubles flight for an 8-3 victory versus Ramirez and Vito Schepper.
Lozier is the 19th Saint Leo student-athlete to earn Player of the Week honors in 2011-12.
The Lions will entertain the No.2-ranked Barry Buccaneers in their Sunshine State Conference opener on Saturday, February 11. The match is scheduled to get underway at 11 a.m.
