MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The Saint Leo men’s tennis team (0-2) only got their season underway on Friday, but on Saturday squared off against one of Division II’s more dominant programs as the dropped a 9-0 Sunshine State Conference decision to Barry University (2-0).

The men quickly found themselves in a tough spot as Barry secured three victories in doubles action. The Lions No.1 duo of Yues Jacobs and Rich MacLacklan gave the Lions their best chance at a victory battling the pair of Emanuel Fraitzl and Max Wimmer. Although the team managed to pull out three points in the early parts of match but the Barry tandem raced away at the end for an 8-3 match win.

In singles action, Jose Morales the Lions No. 5 singles player, was the only Lion to register two or more points in both of his sets. Still, the effort was not enough falling to in straight sets 6-3, 6-2.

The Lions head back home to take on another SSC powerhouse in Florida Southern on February 10. The non-conference match is set to begin at 3:00 pm at the SLU Tennis Center.
